Admissions

Straightforward intake, no unnecessary barriers

Getting Started

We built our admissions process around one principle: when someone is ready for treatment, logistical delays can be the difference between entering care and not. Our coordinators answer calls 24 hours a day and can frequently arrange same-day intake. Because KWC Rehab is located in East Los Angeles, many of our patients arrive within an hour of their first phone call — no cross-state travel, no overnight flights, no waiting lists that stretch into weeks.

Every call is confidential. We verify insurance benefits before you arrive, explain out-of-pocket costs clearly, and coordinate directly with your provider so there are no financial surprises on admission day.

The Admissions Process

Clinical Assessment

A licensed clinician completes a biopsychosocial evaluation — substance history, mental health screening, medical status — to determine the appropriate level of care.

We contact your insurer directly, confirm benefits, and provide a clear written summary of covered services and any remaining costs before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does treatment last?

Detox: 3-7 days depending on substance and withdrawal severity. Residential: 30-90 days based on clinical assessment using ASAM criteria. PHP: 2-4 weeks. IOP: 8-12 weeks. Length of stay is determined by your treatment team and adjusted as clinical indicators change.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Accepted carriers include Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, MultiPlan, First Health Network, Magellan, Kaiser Permanente, and United Healthcare. Call (209) 721-7802 for verification — our team confirms benefits within one business day in most cases.

Is detox medically supervised?

Yes. Detox is physician-directed with 24/7 nursing coverage. We use standardized withdrawal assessment scales (CIWA-Ar for alcohol, COWS for opioids) and administer FDA-approved medications — including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and benzodiazepine tapers — as clinically indicated.

Can family members visit during treatment?

Visitation occurs on scheduled weekends. Family therapy sessions are integrated into the treatment plan throughout the residential stay. Proximity is a key advantage — most of our patients' families are within a short drive in the East Los Angeles area.

What is the phone policy?

Cell phone access is restricted to designated hours. This is a clinical decision, not a punitive one: reducing external stimuli during early recovery allows patients to engage more fully in psychoeducation and therapy without distraction.

Are pets permitted on-site?

Personal pets are not permitted. However, our facility includes an animal-assisted therapy area with trained therapy animals as part of the clinical program. Service animal accommodations are available — discuss with admissions prior to arrival.

What does aftercare look like?

Discharge planning begins at admission. The aftercare plan typically includes step-down to outpatient services, community support group referrals, relapse prevention protocols, and enrollment in our alumni network. Patients with co-occurring disorders receive coordinated psychiatric follow-up recommendations.
